Sunday Prayers for World Peace
Sundays, 11:00am - 12:15pm
with KMCC Resident Teacher, Gen Kelsang Chogyan
Classes resume Jan. 15th; due to a special weekend event please note there is no class the following Sunday, Jan. 22.
No Fee | Everyone welcome
Our Sunday morning Prayers for World Peace class is an opportunity to develop a warm and loving heart. We all need to learn to cherish one and other because this mind of love brings happiness to ourselves and everyone we come into contact with. In essence, learning to cherish others is the best method for establishing peace in the world, and for our own peace of mind in particular.
Each week Gen Chogyan will cover a small section from the book, 8 Steps to Happiness. This book shows us how to cherish others as well as how to remove the inner obstacles to love and compassion. Topics include: how to recognize our delusions without identifying with them, how to see the kindness and good qualities in others, how to practice humility and how to change and set positive views and intentions. Each class includes a breathing meditation, a short teaching and chanted prayers for world peace.
Dharma for Kids
Sundays, 11am - 12pm
with Lynne Tierney
The last class before the holidays is Dec. 18th. We will resume Jan. 15th.
While parents are attending Prayers for World Peace, children ages four and older can enjoy a special class just for them. They will be exposed to basic Buddhist concepts such as: the preciousness of human life; karma; and kindness. They are also taught the benefits of practices such as equanimity and generosity through stories and examples. Classes are based on The New Meditation Handbook, by Geshe Kelsang Gyatso.
Parents are also welcome to sit in on the class. Please note that parents must stay on site for the duration of the kids class.
